Our Verified Review

Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will

Will has the IDOGEAR open-top single pistol mag pouch with the elastic sides in army green, mounted with belt clips on a non-MOLLE belt. Retention isn’t the problem: the mag stays put. The pouch itself is another story. It tends to move around on the belt, and Will had a lot of issues with it shifting.

It’s very cheap, but he thinks it’s probably worth spending a little extra for better function. It could work as a temporary or cheap option, but in Will’s words, it’s really not a great mag pouch for any sort of real application. He has noticed that others like them, so not everyone shares his view. He eventually switched from his IDOGEAR pouches to 5.11 Flex pouches. Both had good retention, but the 5.11s let him re-stow mags more easily.

The Good ✅

  • Mag Stays Put: The elastic holds the mag in place.
  • Very Cheap: It could work as a temporary or budget option.

The Not Good ❌

The deal-breaker is tagged.

  • Deal-breaker Shifts on the Belt: Will had a lot of issues with the pouch moving around on his belt.
  • Not for Real Use: He says it’s really not a great mag pouch for any sort of real application.
  • Worth Spending More: He thinks it’s probably worth a little extra spend for better function.
  • Harder to Re-Stow: The 5.11 Flex pouches he switched to let him re-stow mags more easily.

What others think

How our verdict compares with other reviews

Overall reception: Coverage is thin. We found almost no independent reviews of this pouch beyond retailer listings, and most talk about the brand comes from airsoft players reviewing other IDOGEAR gear.

Where owners agree: IDOGEAR is known as a budget brand that works fine for the price. Owners in an Airsoft Forums UK thread called its battle belt nicely made, with zero issues so far, and Popular Airsoft covers it as an affordable option.

Where owners disagree: We found no real debate about this pouch shifting on a belt. The main complaint in retailer reviews is fit: some buyers say the elastic is too tight for certain mags. Coverage is too thin to call that a consensus.

Our take: Will agrees the mag stays put and the price is low, and he knows others like these pouches. But his deal-breaker is how much it shifts on the belt, so he moved to 5.11 Flex pouches for real use.
