The verdict Good: Low-profile mounts that stay tight and lock a QD swivel securely. Will runs two on his rifle for range and competition use.
Our Verified Review
Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will
Will has two BCM KeyMod QD sling mounts installed on his rifle and uses that setup for training, competitions and range practice at least monthly. He confirms the BCM KeyMod QD mount, and his experience is straightforward: the mounts stay tight, the swivel locks in well, and they stay low-profile enough that they do not cause real snag problems.
The QD lock is secure — he has never had an unexpected release — though it is not an obvious click when it seats, so he usually gives it a tug to confirm. The mounts are a little difficult to remove; it always feels like he is going to break something getting them off, but that has not actually happened. In his words, everything snags on something at some point, but these little mounts are very low profile and do not cause issues. Verdict: Good.
The Good ✅
- Stays Tight: The mounts stay tight just fine in use.
- Secure QD Lock: The swivel locks in great; Will has never had an unexpected release.
- Very Low Profile: They are very low profile and do not cause snag issues for him.
- Works for Regular Use: He is out at the range or competing with them at least monthly.
The Not Good ❌
Flaws, but not deal-breakers.
- Not an Obvious Click: When the QD secures, it is not an obvious click — Will usually gives it a tug to make sure.
- Hard to Remove: They are a little difficult to remove; it always feels like he might break something getting them off, though that has not happened.
- Everything Snags Eventually: He notes that everything snags on something at some point, even if these mounts are not the problem.
Product Description
Specs and maker’s details
The BCM KeyMod Quick Detachable Sling Mount (BCM-KMSM) is a low-profile, all-steel mount for standardized KeyMod slots. It takes a standard push-button QD sling swivel (sold separately), uses an 8-position non-rotational locking interface, and requires three KeyMod attachment points.
BCM’s install notes call for tightening the Torx screws to about 18–20 in-lbs and recommend blue thread locker for long-term security. Will has two installed on his rifle.
What others think
How our verdict compares with other reviews
Overall reception: Coverage is thin. We found little formal review coverage beyond BCM’s own page, which lists 427 brand-hosted owner reviews, so there’s no independent consensus.
Where owners agree: Owners and BCM stress the low-profile steel design and the secure QD socket. BCM recommends blue thread locker on the screw for long-term mounting.
Where owners disagree: We found no real debate about this mount in outside coverage.
Our take: Will is happy with his two mounts. They stay tight, the swivel locks in without unexpected releases and they’re low profile enough that they don’t snag in monthly training and competition use. His only notes are that the QD doesn’t give an obvious click, so he gives it a tug, and the mounts are a little hard to remove.
