The verdict Good: Rugged, secure pouches that make it easy to get mags out and back in. Not as fast as a dedicated match pouch, but they work well for tactical fitness.
Our Verified Review
Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will
Will has used the 5.11 MultiCam Flex Double Pistol Mag Pouch 2.0, the open-top version without the bungee, for a few years. He carries the 21-round double-stack mags for his SIG P320 in them. He switched to these from IDOGEAR pouches: both had good retention, but the 5.11s let him re-stow mags more easily. The mags seat deep in the pouch, and while the fit isn’t super tight, he has never had one fall out. In his words, they’re snug, just not tight.
They aren’t as fast to retrieve from as a dedicated practical pistol match pouch, but they work well for tactical fitness. The build is super rugged. What makes them great for Will is how easily mags come out and go back in. And because they’re soft-sided, they don’t restrict his movement at all when there’s no mag in them.
The Good ✅
- Easy Out, Easy Back In: Will says the ability to get mags out and back in easily is what makes these great.
- Secure Without Being Tight: The mags seat deep, and he has never had one fall out.
- Super Rugged: The build has held up for a few years.
- Doesn’t Restrict Movement: They’re soft-sided, so they don’t get in the way when they’re empty.
- Made for Tactical Fitness: They work well for tactical fitness with his P320 21-round mags.
The Not Good ❌
Flaws, but not deal-breakers.
- Not Match-Pouch Fast: They aren’t as fast to retrieve from as a dedicated pistol match pouch.
- Snug, Not Tight: Will has never lost a mag, but the hold is snug rather than tight. 5.11 adds webbing loops for an optional Pouch Bungee Kit if you want more.
Product Description
Specs and maker’s details
The 5.11 Tactical MultiCam® Flex Double Pistol Mag Pouch 2.0 carries two pistol magazines in an open-top design. 5.11 says the shorter pouch height and high-strength PC compression inserts leave your mags unobstructed to cut down your reload time. Flex-HT™ stacked webbing on the back gives you mounting versatility, and TPU-coated straps weave easily onto all platforms. 5.11 says the coating makes the straps more durable and waterproof.
5.11 builds it from 500D nylon Cordura® with a double layer of N500D and webbing on the front and bottom for extra durability, adds a drain hole in the bottom panel and webbing loops for an optional Pouch Bungee Kit, and lists dimensions of 4.5″ H x 3.25″ W x 1.125″ D.
What others think
How our verdict compares with other reviews
Overall reception: Coverage is thin. We found little independent coverage of the 2.0 version beyond retailer listings. TacSource shows a single five-star customer review, which is too few to call a consensus.
Where owners agree: Retailers carry 5.11’s description of a compression insert for firm retention with quick, smooth reloads, and the few owner comments we found are positive.
Where owners disagree: We found no real debate about this pouch in outside coverage.
Our take: Will’s Good verdict rests on a few years of his own use with 21-round double-stack mags. They’re easy to get out and back in, mags seat deep and have never fallen out, the build is super rugged, and the soft sides don’t restrict his movement. They aren’t as fast as a dedicated match pouch, but they work well for tactical fitness.
