The verdict Not Good: It pulls open easily, but on a belt it’s bulky, bouncy and a hassle to mount, and it’s too expensive for such a simple pouch.

Our Verified Review

Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will

Will has the regular 5.11 UCR IFAK Pouch (not the UCR Flat IFAK) in black, and he stocked it with his own medical gear rather than buying it with a kit. He carried it on his belt, and it lasted through one competition. The one thing it does well is the opening: Will says the front pulls open easily.

Everything else was a letdown. He didn’t like how bulky it is, and on his belt it bounced around and got in the way when he was moving. Mounting was a chore too: Will had to mess around with the MOLLE a lot, and he found it just doesn’t fit belts well. On top of that, he thinks it’s too expensive for such a simple pouch. His bottom line: it’s not worth it, he doesn’t recommend it, and there are much better options available from other brands.

The Good ✅

  • Easy Pull-Open: The front pulls open easily.
  • Other Mounting Options: Will only wore it on a belt, but 5.11 also designs it to attach to a vehicle headrest or any MOLLE or web platform.

The Not Good ❌

The deal-breaker is tagged.

  • Deal-breaker Bulky: Will didn’t like how bulky it is.
  • Bounces on the Move: On his belt, it bounces around and gets in the way when he’s moving.
  • Doesn’t Fit Belts Well: He had to mess around with the MOLLE a lot to get it mounted, and it still doesn’t fit belts well.
  • Too Expensive: Will thinks it’s too expensive for such a simple pouch and says much better options are available from others.

Product Description

Specs and maker’s details

The 5.11 Tactical UCR IFAK Pouch is a medical pouch that 5.11 designs to attach to a vehicle’s headrest or any MOLLE or web platform, keeping one to two blow-out kits or medical essentials within arm’s reach. It has a quick-pull, drop-down front opening to a zippered compartment with a light-colored interior for easy equipment identification, plus bungee tie-downs for added stability.

5.11 lists it at 7″ H x 5″ L x 3″ W in 1050D nylon, with a laser-cut MOLLE platform with loop on the front, a bungee compression lashing system, drain holes in the bottom panel, a vehicle headrest attachment and a removable compression strap. Will’s is black, and he stocked it himself.

What others think

How our verdict compares with other reviews

Overall reception: Mostly positive, but most published coverage treats it as a range-bag or vehicle kit rather than a belt pouch. We found no reliable rating figure for the pouch on its own.

Where owners agree: Reviewers like how easily it opens. Guns & Ammo called the stocked kit version a must-have for any range bag, car trunk or home, and Rob Pincus of Personal Defense Network praised it as rugged and easy to open.

Where owners disagree: Whether it belongs on a belt. Belt-carry discussions on Reddit warn that full-size IFAKs like this get bulky, are uncomfortable sitting down and get in the way getting in and out of vehicles, while others run them on packs or carriers without trouble.

Our take: Will wore it on his belt and agrees on the easy opening. His deal-breaker is that it’s bulky, and it bounced, was hard to mount and cost too much for a simple pouch.
