Verdict Good: Great retention and a smooth, natural draw for competition. It works, but it’s by no means perfect.
Will has had the Black Scorpion Gear Level II Duty Drop & Offset Holster for about two years. He wears it on his right hip for tactical fitness competitions, carrying his SIG Sauer P320 X5 Legion, which is topped with a full-size Holosun EPS red dot that he also reviewed. A spring-loaded retention hood locks over the back of the gun, and the belt attachment allows for a leg strap. He runs it on his Blue Force Gear belt. That setup works great now, but it took some modifying to get the holster to fit and stay in place.
Retention and gun fit have been great. The screws do come loose sometimes, but Will has found that a little thread locker seems to be a good solution. The draw is as smooth and natural as anyone could hope for, and he got comfortable with it very quickly. Releasing the hood makes an audible snap, which is great and reliable for competition but could be an issue if you’re shopping for tactical use. On build quality, his take is simple: “It’s fine.” His biggest wish is for better belt attachment options and wider compatibility with other brands’ systems, like Safariland QLS. As he puts it, “This holster works, but is by no means perfect.”

Product Description
The Black Scorpion Gear Level II Duty Drop & Offset Holster for the SIG Sauer P320 Full Size is a right-hand-draw Level II retention holster built for shooters who move. Its drop-and-offset attachment carries the holster below and out from the belt line, which Black Scorpion Gear says helps it clear a plate carrier, chest rig or battle belt. Retention comes from a manual locking hood: press the thumb tab and the hood swings clear, and it locks again when you reholster. Two adjustable retention screws let you tune the draw with a Phillips screwdriver, and the hood is designed to clear most slide-mounted optics.
The belt attachment fits belts 1.5″ to 2.25″ wide using two tabs and a Phillips screw, the cant adjusts a full 360 degrees, and a 13 mm spacer holds the holster off the attachment for thumb clearance on the draw. A quick-release lever pulls the holster off the attachment without taking your belt off, and you can add an optional leg strap. The open, tapered muzzle clears threaded barrels and compensators, and the holster is cut for suppressor-height sights. Black Scorpion Gear lists the P320 X5 Legion 5″ as compatible, along with other full-size P320 models such as the M17, XFull and X5, and backs the holster with a lifetime warranty against cracks and defects.
If you compete, check your match rules first. Black Scorpion Gear notes that The Tactical Games allows hip-level and drop-leg holsters, while straight USPSA and IDPA pistol matches require the heel of the grip to sit at or above the top of the belt, so a drop rig won’t pass gear check there.
