Our Verified Review
Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will
Will has the black Apache 1800, the small size in Harbor Freight’s Apache weatherproof case line, and has had it for about a month. He keeps all of his rifle magnifiers in it: four that get switched out depending on needs. What he likes most is that it is cheap and rugged.
The pick-and-pull foam comes out cleanly in square pieces and is easily customized to the shape of what you are fitting. He has not replaced it, though he notes the case is a new addition to his gear, and he has had no issues so far. Nothing inside has gotten wet or dusty. The latch is tight and hard to snap and unsnap; he imagines it will break in, and the case feels surprisingly well made given the price. Drops and being tossed around have been a non-issue. He would recommend it. His verdict: Good.

The Not Good ❌
Flaws, but not deal-breakers.
- Tight Latch: The latch is tight and hard to snap and unsnap, though Will imagines it will break in.
- Early Days: He has had it for about a month, and it is a new addition to his gear.

What others think
How our verdict compares with other reviews
Overall reception: Coverage is thin. We found little independent coverage of the Apache 1800 specifically beyond Harbor Freight’s own pages, so there’s no solid consensus.
Where owners agree: The broader Apache line is seen as a good-value budget case. CutMyCase, which sells custom foam, says Apache cases suit budget buyers who need basic protection, with IP65 splash and dust resistance and pick-and-pluck foam.
Where owners disagree: We found no real debate about this size. CutMyCase’s caveats are that Apache cases are splash-resistant rather than submersible and that the latches feel less robust and can flex under pressure.
Our take: Will is happy with his after about a month: it’s cheap and rugged, has shrugged off drops, and the foam plucked out cleanly. His latch is tight rather than flimsy for now.
