The verdict Good: Excellent fit, all-day comfort and a stable platform for a full-size pistol and pouches. Just budget for the buckle upgrade, which Will calls mandatory.
Our Verified Review
Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will
Will has the Blue Force Gear GRID Belt in MultiCam with the upgraded buckle, and he runs it for tactical fitness with his Black Scorpion Gear holster and 5.11 pouches. The holster had to be modified to fit the belt, but it works. The fit is excellent and the belt stays in place. He can leave it a little loose for comfort, then tighten it up for high-demand competitions or challenging positions. In his words, it’s all-day comfort.
Blue Force Gear provides instructions on how to size the belt. Will thought they were a little hard to follow, but he got the correct size on the first try. The belt handles his gear great, including his full-size SIG P320 X5 Legion, and he has never had any issues. He also likes the flex and the light weight. His one caveat is the buckle: in his opinion, the upgrade is mandatory. Otherwise it’s a great belt, and it’s holding up really well, so despite the slightly higher price point, Will thinks it’s worth it.
The Good ✅
- Excellent Fit: It stays in place, and Will calls the fit excellent.
- All-Day Comfort: He can leave it a little loose for comfort and tighten it up for high-demand competitions or challenging positions.

- Holding Up Well: It’s holding up really well, which is why he thinks it’s worth the price.
The Not Good ❌
Flaws, but not deal-breakers.
- Buckle Upgrade Is a Must: Will considers the upgraded buckle mandatory, so factor that into the cost.
- Sizing Instructions: He found Blue Force Gear’s sizing instructions a little hard to follow, though he still got the right size on the first try.
- Holster Needed Modifying: His Black Scorpion Gear holster had to be modified to fit, but it works.
- Slightly Higher Price: It costs a bit more than some belts, but Will thinks it’s worth it.
Product Description
Specs and maker’s details
The Blue Force Gear GRID® Belt is a two-piece battle belt, and both the inner belt and the MOLLE-compatible outer belt are included. Blue Force Gear says it carries the load-carriage and design features of its CHLK® Belt minus the load-rated capabilities required by helicopter assaulters, for a low-profile duty belt without the extra weight and cost. It uses BFG’s MOLLEminus® platform with a rigid composite internal frame and works with MOLLE, Helium Whisper® and belt-mounted accessories.
BFG lists a 2″ width and a weight of 12.5 oz, and makes it in the USA in Black, Coyote Brown, MultiCam and Ranger Green. The outer belt comes standard with a glass-filled nylon one-piece buckle, and optional COBRA® Quick Release Buckle upgrade kits are sold separately. BFG notes that the GRID is sized similar to the Crye Precision G3 Combat Pant rather than your typical jeans size, and it publishes a sizing chart to help you pick.
What others think
How our verdict compares with other reviews
Overall reception: Very well regarded. TacticalHyve gave it its Editor’s Choice with a 10 out of 10, and FAGT Blog calls it a great choice for an ultra lightweight belt after competition use.
Where owners agree: Reviewers praise the light weight, the curved shape that makes it comfortable for long wear and the support for a full gear load.
Where owners disagree: Sizing and the buckle. TacticalHyve strongly recommends reading Blue Force Gear’s sizing guide before buying to avoid sizing issues, and TacticalHyve notes it ships with a simple one-piece buckle unless you pick the upgraded option.
Our take: Will matches the praise: excellent fit, all-day comfort and a stable platform for his full-size P320 and pouches. He found BFG’s sizing instructions a little hard to follow but got it right the first time, and he calls the buckle upgrade mandatory.
