The verdict Good: Much softer shooting, an easier sight picture through follow-up shots, and no malfunctions in a year in Will’s BCM RECCE-16.
Our Verified Review
Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will
Will has had the Sprinco Blue enhanced power carbine buffer spring for a year. He runs it in his BCM RECCE-16 along with a BCM H2 buffer. He switched to it because the rifle was throwing brass forward and had a somewhat harsh recoil feel.
Since the change, Will says the rifle is much softer shooting, and it is easier to maintain his sight picture through follow-up shots. He has had no malfunctions. Installation was very easy: he put a little grease on it, following Sprinco’s guidance, and dropped it in. His verdict: Good.
The Good ✅
- Much Softer Shooting: Will noticed a clear difference: the rifle is much softer shooting.
- Easier Follow-Up Shots: It is easier to maintain his sight picture through follow-up shots.
- No Malfunctions: He has had no malfunctions in the year he has run it.
- Very Easy Install: A little grease, following Sprinco’s guidance, and it just drops in.
- Works With His H2: He runs it with a BCM H2 buffer in his BCM RECCE-16.
The Not Good ❌
Flaws, but not deal-breakers.
- No Real Complaints: Will did not call out anything he dislikes about it.
Product Description
Specs and maker’s details
The Sprinco Blue Enhanced Power Carbine Buffer Spring (part 25007, sold under Sprinco’s Tactical Springs LLC line) is a moly-plated chrome silicon carbine buffer spring that ships in a hard tube and is color coded blue at one end, so you can tell which spring is installed. Sprinco says its design loads are approximately 15% greater than its White spring, which matches a fresh mil-spec M4 carbine spring, for one of the load constants in the spring design.
Sprinco recommends it for most non-suppressed 12.5″–14.5″ SBRs, 16″ direct-impingement mid-length barrels and mid-length uppers with adjustable gas blocks, and says best performance usually comes with ST-T2, H2 or DPMS extra heavy buffers. It also notes that nothing is set in stone because gas port sizes vary so widely, and its tuning guides use where your brass ejects to dial in the spring and buffer combination. Will runs his with a BCM H2 buffer in a BCM RECCE-16.
What others think
How our verdict compares with other reviews
Overall reception: Well liked, but coverage is small. Primary Arms buyers rate it 4.7 out of 5 from 13 reviews: 12 five-star and one one-star.
Where owners agree: Buyers say it smooths recoil and moves ejection from around 2 o’clock toward 3 o’clock on 16-inch carbines, often paired with an H2 buffer. Several call it an economical, easy upgrade.
Where owners disagree: Whether it suits every rifle. The one-star reviewer warns that on a rifle that’s already well gassed, or with weak ammo, it can cause failures to feed and short stroking, while the rest report no problems.
Our take: Will is in the majority. In his BCM RECCE-16 with an H2 buffer, it’s much softer shooting, follow-up shots are easier and he’s had no malfunctions in a year. Install was just a little grease and drop it in.
