The verdict Not Good: Excellent retention, but getting a mag back in is very difficult. Not good for tactical fitness or anything where you need to re-stow a mag.

Our Verified Review

Owned and tested by our reviewer, Will

Will has the Blue Force Gear Mag NOW! Double Pistol Pouch in black, with the bungee retention, and he used it for his SIG P320 21-round double-stack mags. Retention is very good. Once the mags are under the bungee, they’re not going anywhere, and the fit is very tight and snug even without the bungee. The draw is fine.

The problem is putting a mag back. Reinserting one is very difficult, and Will calls that his primary issue with this pouch. He didn’t use it for very long, though it seems durable. His verdict: it’s not good for a tactical fitness competition or any application where you’d need to re-stow a mag. For comparison, the 5.11 Flex Double Pistol Mag Pouch 2.0 he runs lets him get mags out and back in easily.

The Good ✅

  • Excellent Retention: Once the mags are under the bungee, they’re not going anywhere.
  • Tight Fit Even Without the Bungee: The elastic alone gives a very tight, snug fit.
  • Draw Is Fine: Getting a mag out works fine.
  • Seems Durable: Will didn’t use it for long, but it seems durable.

The Not Good ❌

The deal-breaker is tagged.

  • Deal-breaker Very Hard to Re-Stow: Getting a mag back in is very difficult, and it’s Will’s primary issue with this pouch.
  • Not for Tactical Fitness: Will says it’s not good for a fitness competition or any application where you’d need to re-stow a mag.
  • Short Test: He didn’t use it for very long, so long-term durability is still unknown.

Product Description

Specs and maker’s details

The Blue Force Gear Mag NOW! Pistol Pouch holds pistol magazines in a mil-grade elastic pouch that mounts to MOLLE-compatible fields. Integral adjustable bungee straps add what Blue Force Gear calls an extra level of “tumble retention,” and molded rubber pull tabs make the bungee straps easy to operate with wet or gloved hands.

BFG sells it as a single or double pouch, with bullets-sideways or bullets-outward mounting options, in Black, Coyote Brown, MultiCam and Ranger Green. BFG’s similar Ten-Speed Double Pistol Mag Pouch relies on elastic retention without the bungee straps. Will’s is the black double with the bungees.

What others think

How our verdict compares with other reviews

Overall reception: Respected but niche. Coverage is limited and we found no reliable rating figure. The Professional Gunfighter praises its fast draw, light weight and secure elastic-and-bungee retention.

Where owners agree: Elastic Blue Force Gear pouches are slim, light and hold mags securely, and the rubber pull tab makes the bungee easy to clear.

Where owners disagree: Re-stowing mags. The Professional Gunfighter notes the soft backing makes re-indexing a little harder, and a Tactical Inferno tester found reloads into the pouch could hang up. Some owners of BFG’s similar elastic pouches say re-indexing is terrible, while others say it’s fine with practice.

Our take: Will is firmly in the hard-to-re-stow camp. He also found the retention excellent, but getting a mag back in was very difficult, and that is the deal-breaker for tactical fitness, where you re-stow mags all the time.
